Zodiac Print Series
A series of 12 digitally illustrated zodiac prints that challenges common perception and representation of astrological signs. Anna focuses on dismantling stereotypical portrayals of each zodiac sign by re-imagining them as goddesses while focusing on their good qualities and less known symbols that represent each sign.

Aries
Aries marks the beginning of the Zodiac, it's no wonder they love being first and diving into new ventures headfirst. This sign is very ambitious and bold, their passion and confidence make them a great leader. Represented by Athena the Greek Goddess of war, Aries is always armed and ready for battle. This fire sign is also known for being playful, upbeat, and enjoy living life to the fullest. The lucky color for Aries is red complemented by aubergine. I illustrated Aries with her ruler Mars behind her, holding a spear and looking up towards the future. She is ready to make her mark! Throughout the illustration, you will notice symbols of this fire sign in her jewelry and tattoos. This fiery goddess is accompanied by an owl, a symbol of Athena's divine strategic wisdom, and a reminder that a fierce Aries never loses.
Taurus
Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and money. This is an epicurean sign of luxury and sensuality. Represented by the bull, their dedication can be mistaken as stubbornness, however, Taureans are steadfast and loyal in nature. This sign is not only opulent but also an expert in everything beauty and art related. Taurus is the most sensual sign of the zodiac. The colors for this sign are green and pink, with accents of cream. In Roman mythology, Taurus is represented by Juno, a powerful goddess of fertility, and marriage and a protector of women's lives. She is pictured reclining in her ornate chair, as a throne, with a peacock feather fan to symbolize luxury and sensuality of Taurus. A baby calf stands near to symbolize the fertility and gentle nature of this sign. You can see various Taurus symbols in her jewelry and tattoos, such as rose and earth symbols.
Gemini
Gemini is witty, charming, curious, and possesses the enviable ability to talk about anything. They can easily lose interest in something and will seek constant change and new experiences. As an air sign, they are adaptable and have the ability to learn quickly. Gemini's are known to love color and sometimes eccentric style choices. In my illustration, I captured the twins' duality by dressing them in opposite outfits that a Gemini would wear. In Astrology, they rule over the arms and clavicle body parts. So I dressed them in an off-shoulder white blouse and a yellow cowl neck dress. If you look closely you can spot the twins wearing Gemini symbols in their jewelry.
Cancer
Cancers are ruled by the Moon, they are highly intuitive and sensitive signs. Like the tide: they are strong-willed, persistent and yet retreat into themselves if provoked or upset. Cancers are highly imaginative and sympathetic, often putting the needs of others above their own.
I imagine the Cancer woman as a Goddess of the Moon, her glance is soft and loving yet she is strong. She carries her symbols as a shield to protect her heart, just like crustaceans have an outer shell to keep them safe. Her earring is in the shape of the Cancer constellation.
Leo
Leo's are confident, passionate, bright, and lively. They command any room they enter and love the spotlight. Leo's love adorning themselves in gold jewelry and practical but showstopping fashions. I imagine a Leo woman with wild beautiful curly hair, looking on regally towards her future, accompanied by her companion. Like a lion, she is a born leader, brave and not to be messed with. Leo's are ruled by the Sun so I pictured the star in her necklace and framing her and the lion.
Virgo
Virgo is an earth sign, which means they have a strong character and a deep sense of humanity. This is why I drew inspiration from Greek Goddess Demeter for my illustration. I imagine Virgo as a stoic, deep-in-thought goddess. She is a clear communicator, ruled by Mercury, able to transform any jumbled information into clear concepts. Virgos are perfectionists and are hyper-aware of every detail, which is their superpower. They are diligent and consistent, and always strive to grow. The colors associated with Virgo are brown, olive, and eggshell white. If you look closely you will see she is wearing some jewelry that ties back to her goddess origin. The snake bracelet represents rebirth and new life, while the wheat in her hair represents fertility and bounty. On her arm, you can see her constellation as a tattoo.
Libra
Libra is a sociable air sign known for being balanced, yet playful. Ruled by glamorous Venus, Libras are experts in aesthetics and know how to dress to impress. The color associated with this zodiac sign is pink, it pairs well with shades of powder blue and beige. All of these colors highlight beauty, femininity, and the peaceful nature of Libra. I wanted to portray her as goddess of beauty and love. Hair flowing in the wind, adorned with symbols of Venus like the pearls and the dove. She is holding the Libra scale because this sign is all about justice and being fair. Because of that Libras are great problem solvers.
Scorpio
Scorpio is a water sign and the 8th sign of the zodiac. They are extremely clairvoyant and intuitive. The colors associated with Scorpio are black, burnt orange, and pomegranate red. This also adds to their mysterious and alluring nature. Scorpios are passionate, determined, magnetic, and resilient. I wanted to capture these characteristics by illustrating her looking intensely at the viewer. Scorpios are ruled by two planets Mars (power and ambition) and Pluto (death and transformation), these planets enframe her in my illustration. If you look closely you will notice tattoos of various symbols that represent Scorpio: goddess Isis, a symbol for mars, and a snake. Of course, she is holding her symbol the scorpion as well.
Sagittarius
Sagittarius is a fire sign, a free spirit and the ultimate truth-seeker of the zodiac! They are ruled by Jupiter, the giant planet of luck and expansion. Because of that the color associated with this sign is purple, the color of abundance and creative energy. This sign is fun, lively, brave and optimistic. Sagittarians are adaptable by nature and can serve any look from effortless to bold and daring designs.I illustrated her in a diamante butterfly top to show the sign's free spirit. She is adorned with silver jewelry and earrings with a symbol for Jupiter.The symbol for Sagittarius is the archer or centaur, you can see her drawing her glowing arrow to guide her to her next adventure.
Capricorn
Capricorn is an Earth sign, symbolized by a mythical sea goat. They are skilled at navigating both emotional and pragmatic realms. Ruled by Saturn (planet of wisdom, discipline, and karma), this sign is known for being extremely hardworking, visionaries, and trailblazers. Capricorns are resilient and determined to overcome whatever stands in their way. The color associated with this zodiac sign is charcoal and shades of navy. I wanted to show the strong side of Capricorn by placing her in a strong pose. This sign is also known to be loyal and nurturing, so she is gently holding her symbol baby Capricorn. Her jewelry, like the amber bracelet and onyx ring are symbols of her wisdom and discipline. You can also spot a necklace in the shape of Capricornus constellation and an earring with a symbol of Saturn.
Aquarius
Ruled by Uranus, the planet that governs innovation, technology, and surprising events, Aquarius embodies forward-thinking and rebelliousness. This Air sign has an eclectic, individual aesthetic that helps them stand out from the crowd. The colors most associated with Aquarius are electric blue, shades of lavender, and white. In my illustration, Aquarius is pouring out water from a vessel symbolizing washing away the past and passing on knowledge. Her gaze is drawn upwards looking towards the future. You can spot her zodiac symbol as a tattoo on her torso and the symbol of Uranus on her necklace.
Pisces
Pisces is a water sign who is known as the dreamer of the zodiac. This sign is very imaginative, creative, and spiritual. They are ruled by Neptune, the planet of illusion which gives Pisces their intuitive psychic abilities. This sign tends to have a bohemian romantic air about them. The lucky color for Pisces is aquamarine, the color of life that represents renewal and inspiration. I wanted to capture her as a water goddess draped in pearls and surrounded by Neptune. She is joined by her symbol of the two flying fish, who represents her dreamy and free personality.
